Useful Information
Customs clearance is required for every shipment to or from a non-EU country.
It is an essential step in the international shipping process, ensuring the smooth and lawful movement of goods to and from countries outside the European Union.
This process includes the application of duties and taxes depending on the type and value of the goods.
A customs duty is a financial charge imposed on products imported into the European Union from any country outside the EU.
The amount of the charge is usually expressed as a percentage of the CIF value (Cost + Insurance + Freight) of the imported goods.
This rate is determined by the Common Customs Tariff (TARIC).
Customs duties in Greece vary depending on the Harmonized System code (HS code) and the customs import value (CIF).
Customs duties usually range from 0% to 25%. Specifically, they are calculated as a percentage of the customs import value (CIF), taking into account both the cost of the goods and the cost of transportation and insurance.
It is recommended that you contact the Greek customs authorities or us for accurate information regarding the duties applicable to your specific imports.
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a European Union policy aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and ensuring a level playing field between European and imported products.
CBAM applies to specific product categories (such as steel, cement, aluminium, fertilizers, etc.) and imposes a cost on imports based on the CO₂ emissions generated during their production.
Its calculation is based on two main factors:
the embedded carbon emissions of the product (i.e., the amount of CO₂ released during its production), and the carbon price in the European Union, as determined by the Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).
If a corresponding carbon cost has already been paid in the country of production, it is deducted from the final amount to avoid double charging.
In simple terms, CBAM ensures that products imported into the EU are subject to a similar environmental cost as those produced within the EU.
